The first rides in these locations took place on 12 June 2004 on the same date as the Northern Hemisphere. In 2005 a distinct Southern Hemisphere ride date took place on 13 February 2005 i.e. Valentines Day. In 2006 it was decided among the southern hemisphere cities to move the date to the second Saturday in March and this tradition has continued.
