The Next Ride Details
- Businesses and events are starting to open up in the city. Therefore, we are going to have our second and final WNBR of the 2020 year -
The Ride Details
- Our NEXT WNBR ride of the year is Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 11:00AM -
.Our usual World Naked Bike Ride Naking season of 5 rides has been disrupted by the COVID-19 shuttering of our daily lives. However, recently, a number of businesses and activities are slowly returning. Sadly, there is no news of any big July 4th activity, no fireworks display planned. But that doesn't mean EARTH DAY needs to be dull and uneventful. So what better way to celebrate than by having a World Naked Bike Ride?.
.We will have one ride to make up for the other postponed events. We will meet at the usual spot north of the Ferry Building on Embarcadero, between the Farmers Market and Starbucks. Please observe social distancing and mask requirements before and during the ride..
.As usual, it is an environmental protest ride as bare as you dare; be naked, wear body paint skimpy stuff, whatever you are comfortable in. And we have already had over a dozen WNBRs while under cloud of the city anti-nudity ordinance, with NO citations or complaints. However, than it’s best to have a sarong, a beach wrap or shorts ready for quick cover up..
.Our ride will take us through the Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, parts of Market, the Wiggle to the Haight and to Ocean Beach, then we'll double back to our finish in the Castro..
.Weather recently has been well suited to go unsuited, so join us for the WNBR Earth Day Ride 2021..
- Join our group!!! Keep up to date on this event, future rides and info at our:

The WNBR Basics
Schedule
RouteThe route will include our favorite parts of the city such as Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, the Civic Center, the Haight District, out to Ocean Beach and then double back to the Castro. A route plan will probably not be published as we will just meander along usual roads to typical destinations. Ride Pace and DifficultyJust try to stay on the right shoulder or in the right lane. With enough riders, we will take up the right lane the whole way. There is often a sand bank on the right shoulder, so the right lane is preferred. Cars will be passing us. Most cars go slow, as drivers and passengers like getting pictures, but there can always be that impatient jerk that speeds by. WeatherOut of the past ten years, it has been seasonably mild in the 60s. A couple of times it was in the upper 70s and once in the mid 80s. As is typical for San Francisco, dress in layers, at least have a light windbreaker ready, maybe one of those transparent rain covers. Getting thereYou can ride your bike to the start from anywhere in the city. Out of town, you can ride from BART or CALTRAIN or put your bike on the front of Muni buses. If you drive, I suggest parking near the finish line somewhere in the Castro. Check for meters and time limits. There is parking enforcement on Saturdays |
BikesYour bike is in good shape if you ride frequently, but if your last ride was a WNBR, check your tires, brakes and shifters. Do your maintenainceand tuning before the ride, not during it. Alternative ParticipationBeing California, everyone does things differently. We want to offer the broadest possible welcome. First of all, obey all the Laws of Comfort! There's no nudity requirement. Whether you come clothed in a full-length Fun-Fur or just a top hat, come as bare as you dare. Most riders carry some minimal clothing to wear when arriving and departing the group. One bike rental place offered 50% discounts to WNBR riders last year. See the FAQ for more info. SkatesSecondly, skaters are welcome. Some skaters have joined us repeatedly! Since skaters tend to expend about 2x as much energy, and tend to roll 50% slower than bikers, skaters may wish to follow an abbreviated but comparable route by linking the level grades in the beginning and ending segments of the ride. One very accomplished naked skater in the 2010 SF WNBR skated up and down the steepest part of Lombard Street, The Crookedest Street in the World, to everyone's amazement.
Public Nudity in San FranciscoThe Park Police and Park Rangers have jurisdiction at the parks. SFPD has responsibility for the rest of the city and parks. We have First Amendment protection, but always be prepared to cover if asked. In general, we are protected by the First Amendment. The SFPD have been mostly friendly and have offered to escort us if the ride numbers get larger. We wish to stay on their good side, so if asked to dress, don't challenge them. Please, PLEASE don't attempt to speak for the group and antagonize the authorities. Don't assume public observing us nearby want you to mingle close to their space either. If they approach us for pictures, fine. Their are still a number of the public not comfortable with public nudity, so don't impose yourself on them. |

Join us! Our World Naked Bike Ride - San Francisco Facebook Fan Page is the place to get latest ride info and where to find WNBR Event pages to RSVP.. After Facebook prudes took down our WNBR Fan Page a few years ago, we decided NO photos will be allowed since Facebook has a problem with plain nudity and social protest. If you are here just to look at nude photos, you can look elsewhere.
