This page has information about the third year of London's participation in the World Naked Bike Ride. In 2004, there were 58 riders in Hyde Park, and in 2005 there were 250 riders in the central London streets. This year the ride returns to the streets of London (on a similar route to 2005) allowing riders to see the many sights of this remarkable city from the comfort of their own bikes/skates.

The London ride will meet at 3pm in central London on 10 June 2006. This will allow people to also take part in the [[Brighton & Hove]] morning ride, which will start at around 10am.

The World Naked Bike Ride is a global protest movement with rides in cities around the world, raising awareness of issues such as safety of cyclists on the road, reducing oil dependence and saving the planet. Let's make the planet great again!

The [http://www.worldnakedbikeride.org/uk/london/route '''route'''] starts at Wellington Arch, then takes in Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Embankment, Big Ben, Aquarium/London Eye, IMAX cinema roundabout, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Centre Point/Tottenham Court Road Tube, Oxford Street, Oxford Circus, Selfridges, US Embassy, Park Lane, and finish at the Wellington Arch.
+
WNBR’s themes are to:
 +
* protest against the global dependency on oil
 +
* curb car culture
 +
* obtain real rights for cyclists
 +
* demonstrate the vulnerability of cyclists on city streets
 +
* celebrate body freedom

'''Length:''' 10km approximately.

As well as promoting healthy life choices it can also be the best fun you can ever have on two wheels. The London ride has the excitement of a carnival, with big crowds to cheer it on. It is a "naked bike ride" but you can be "as bare as you dare" - body painting and fancy dress are welcome. It is fun, legal and all in a worthy cause.

'''Legal:''' We have notified the police of our intention to ride in protest of oil dependency and in celebration of our bodies. They are fully aware that many/most of our riders will be nude and partially nude as we cycle a route through the streets of central London. In 2005 they police indicated that they would not be arresting us or trying to prevent the protest ride. We plan to seek this acknowledgement again when we agreed our route with the police beforehand. Visit our [http://www.worldnakedbikeride.org/uk/faq/index.html FAQ answer] about what the Metropolitan police said in 2005. The chances that you will be arrested for nudity or participation in the 2005 ride were virtually zero. We will try to ensure that the 2006 ride is the same.

'''Weather:''' We've had good weather at each of the UK rides so far. Does that mean statistically we're predicting rain? RAIN IS NOT PREDICTED, BUT.. the ride will not be cancelled in the event of rain. If it rains, bring some warm dry clothes to change into after the ride, and keep them dry. Maybe we can beat the Vancouver record for most naked rides in the rain!  For a weather forecast, visit the [http://www.met-office.gov.uk Met Office], [http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/today.asp?zipcode=SW1X+7LY MetCheck] or [http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather BBC Weather].

==Photography and filming policy==

The London Ride has had the following photography/filming policy since 2005.
+
The next London ride will be on the afternoon of '''Saturday 14th August 2021'''. In 2019 we had a great day with over 1,000 riders and huge crowds cheering us on. Media participation and coverage was also good. Let's make it bigger and better this year! -->
 +
<!-- The date coincides with the Trooping of the Colour in the morning, so there should be good crowds to cheer us on and maybe our riders will once again sing Happy Birthday to the Queen.
