United Kingdom FAQ
The UK FAQ page you've made should stick to UK-specific FAQs. Visitors should be pointed to the general FAQ for general questions about the ride. This will avoid a lot of duplication! – Nsayers 08:19, 28 Apr 2006 (PDT)

Account request from "toby"
Hi, Rob. Is there any reason for keeping this account request from "toby" "on hold" ? - Erik Baas 15:56, 2 November 2012 (PDT)
- Never mind, I've "accepted" the request, we'll see what happens. - Erik Baas 14:18, 4 November 2012 (PST)
Wiki migration
Thanks for letting me know on my talk page. Let's hope it goes well, this time. I would like to ask you two things:
- Please do install also the parser functions extension in the php.
- Please, grant me at least admin rights, so as to e.g. delete (such as the unnecessary redirect Czech Republic, moved to Czechia), and to edit common js, css and protected templates — and also so as not to become reverted and suddenly blocked by anyone lacking a decent conscience: without warning, and after my simply awaiting its end, again without warning extending the block in a futile attempt to force me into contacting him privately, despite my earlier refusal to conspire out of the view of all readers [especially after my sensing his usage of technically false pretenses during even earlier discussions]). That has kept me 10 years away from (then and still) highly needed work, that I'm doing now. Don't worry, I don't hold grudges, but I don't want to see it repeated at any time either.
- Perhaps it is safer to grant 'bureaucrat' rights instead, because of the severe dangers of inexperienced site-wide replacing, which I would do. Then ensure:
$wgGroupPermissions['bureaucrat']['replacetext'] = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['bureaucrat']['suppressredirect'] = true;
Good luck.

- According to English wikipedia, Czech Republic is the official name. I suggest rolling back this move to Czechia. - Erik Baas (talk) 15:37, 23 April 2020 (PDT)
- As far as I know, not one other country ever showed its "official name" in the List of rides. You could have read such in my move justification, before suggesting to roll back. You might also read, or refer to, WP more carefully: "The Czech Republic also known by its short-form name, Czechia" or look at the page wikipedia:Czech Republic (disambiguation) and more importantly (with my emphasis in bold) wikipedia:Czechia (disambiguation): "Czechia is the official short form name of the Czech Republic." . The naming of articles on WP is often the result of personal political viewpoints, despite the rules — unless you can explain why else does this article exist: wikipedia:Name of the Czech Republic, which opens with (again with my emphasis in bold): "The Czech Republic's official formal and short names at the United Nations are Česká republika and Česko in Czech, and the Czech Republic and Czechia in English.". Compare with another WP article, e.g. "Belgium, officially the Kingdom of Belgium" and many others. Here, there is no 'Kingdom of Belgium' redirect page: The World Naked Bike Ride wiki goes with only the everyday short names all the time and had only one exception, which I corrected. I rarely happen to do things without proper investigation and giving it some serious thought.
