EVENING FLASHMOB NAKED EQUINOX CELEBRATION RIDE - SATURDAY 25th SEPTEMBER 2021

Brighton naked Bike Ride is part of the International Global Protest Movement, the World Naked Bike Ride. The UK National Arm of the World Movement uses its funds to provide insurance for our ride and many other UK rides. They have recently appealed for some top-up funds to enable that to continue and we are going to do our bit with an exciting additonal Flashmob ride in Brighton.

We will ride "AS BARE AS WE DARE", through the streets of Brighton in the early dusk! We'll meet up in advance to enjoy the sunset, then with our bikes and bodies illuminated as much as you wish, we'll go show ourselves to the pleasure and applause of the Brighton public.

It will be a Flashmob, you'll need to buy a ticket, the proceeds of which will go to the UK arm of the WNBR in the form of a donation. You'll leave us contact details as you make your purchase on EventBrite and we'll use that to let you know where and from what time we'll be there, secret until 24 hours before! Further details are in the EventBrite description.

We hope to finish at the beach for a skinny-dip in the dark! (Moon doesn't come up until 11 p.m.) We hope that will afford some confidence boost to those unsure about their nakedness, enjoy the freedom!

Get Your tickets on EventBrite - follow this link - [EventBrite Flashmob Tickets https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/170415208476] :

Participants should note the following:

Covid 19 provisions
Ideally you should take a pre-ride Lateral Flow test or even better a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. Lateral Flow tests are less accurate but give a rapid result, PCR tests take laboratory time.  DO NOT RIDE if you are suffering from ANY symptoms of illness.

The Naked Bike Ride takes place in the open air and cycle spacing will provide some protection against transmission of infection. If you so wish please feel at ease wearing a normal mask. Do not wear any large mask that might affect your ability to see to ride safely.

Bring hand gel.

The ride will accept cycles, tandems and trikes - electrically assisted cycles are OK too. Electrically powered (motor)cycles, hoverboards and scooters are illegal and Police may confiscate such devices and charge users with an offence. Skaters and runners are discouraged.

Children (under 16) may accompany you on the ride but must remain clothed and be in the care of an adult parent or guardian at all times. They must be competent cyclists and wear adequate protective equipment.

Please ensure that your bike is roadworthy. Your bike MUST have full legal road lighting - by all means extra lights, disco strobes and fairy lights are all welcome.

Hints and Tips

The World Naked Bike Ride is a protest, not an event. We do not require permission in the UK (yet) to hold this rally however we do, as a matter of courtesy, and for the safety of our participants, liaise with the Police.

Riding naked is no more uncomfortable in the saddle than being clothed and may be better as there is no fabric to chafe. Riders can utilise an additional fabric seat cover - IF YOU ARE USING A HIRE BIKE PLEASE BE SURE TO USE A SEAT COVER; we were the target of some badly thought-out vitriolic trolling about bare bums on hire bike saddles for the main annual ride and don't want to repeat that!!

The motto of the ride is "as bare as you dare", complete nudity is permitted in law as long as there is no intention to cause harassment, alarm or distress. Footware of some sort is advised both for pedal and roadway comfort. There will not be professional body painters but you are most welcome to bring your own body paint and wear body painted slogans or have a flag attached to your bike.

Toilets are available at our intended start and finish points.

Take your clothes with you on the bike, in a waterproof bag in case of rain (wet clothes aren't funny). Cycling naked in Brighton after the end of the ride is not advisable, you will no longer have the protection of fellow riders. Please make sure that your cycle luggage is secure, huge bags and poor bungee cords have caused far too many problems in the past.

If you're going for a skinny-dip (it will be near high-tide) you may need a towel unless you're OK with drip-drying.

Music systems and noise makers are welcome! We want to be noticed.

== See you (possibly all of you) there!! ==

Please donate to the WNBR UK Fund

The UK World Naked Bike Ride fund meets the cost of insuring rides
across the UK, and provides local organisers with money for
poster/flyer printing, advertising, ride equipment etc.
Please give generously.

Please join our email list for occasional updates on the ride and related events.

Planning meet-ups

Please come along if you'd like to get involved in any way or want to find out more, anyone is welcome. We meet at least once a month in the run-up to the ride, from January to June.

Next meeting date/s: See Facebook

In particular, we are keen to find people willing to assist with:

  • Setting up and packing away equipment at Preston Park on the ride day (gazebos, signage, fencing etc). Preferably non-riders, as the packing away must be carried out after the ride sets off.
  • Body painting. Skilled body painters sought, an indoor location may be available.
  • Organising pre-ride fundraising or after ride social events.
  • Marshalling during the ride: Helping to keep riders together and safe, and providing assistance if necessary.
  • Stewarding before the ride: Collecting donations, handing out flyers and dealing with intrusive photographers.
  • Bike mechanics to assist riders with bike repairs and maintenance before the ride and at the rest stop.

Get involved!
