On June 9th, the World Naked Bike Ride will take place in Nijmegen, which is a town in the east of Holland. We start at the central station and in a couple of minutes we will be in the 'Ooypolder'. That is a beautiful landscape near the river 'Waal'. We can take a swim over there.
Rather late there has been a short contact with the police. The outcome is: being naked on the road is not allowed and there will not be made an exception for this manifestation. In the past, WNBR rides have been in Amsterdam, Apeldoorn and Arhem without serious problems (see reports of participaters in the past ) and in many countries such rides have been tolerated; it would be strange if it would cause conflicts now, but you can't know. A nice idea could be to find a creative way to go just not naked.

Daar is aangegeven dat naakt rijden op de openbare weg niet toegestaan is en dat er geen uitzondering wordt gemaakt voor deze manifestatie. Elders in Nederland (Amsterdam, Apeldoorn, Arnhem in voorgaande jaren) is een WNBR-manifestatie zonder grote problemen verlopen (zie verslagen deelnemers vorige jaren), evenals vaak in andere, soms veel preutsere landen; het zou vreemd zijn als dit hier tot conflicten leidt, maar dat is niet te voorspellen. Wie niet per fiets kan/wil komen en niet de fiets in de trein mee wil nemen, kan in principe een fiets huren in de stations-fietsenstalling (onder het stationsplein, trap tegenover uitgang station, voor 7,50 euro huur, borg 5 euro, legitimatie verplicht, reserveren aanbevolen: 024 322 9618).
