Join us for a naked lunch, a seaside bike ride in the buff, a paddle in the sea and a naturist beach picnic!

Every year since 2006, Brighton has joined World Naked Bike Rides around the world to celebrate cycling and the human body. The ride demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and is a protest against car culture.

Brighton's ninth World Naked Bike Ride will take place on Sunday 8 June 2014 (to be confirmed). Bad weather meant lower turnouts in 2013, 2012 and 2011, but we were still over 300 strong (600 in 2013). An astonishing 800-1,000 riders took part in 2010 (up from 700, 400, 180 and 160 in previous years). Many more are expected in 2014. As of the 2007 ride, following negotiations with Sussex Police, full nudity is permitted at the event.

The event is one of several UK and worldwide rides happening around the same time, including nearby Portsmouth, Southampton and London. It is scheduled to allow people to take part in other rides as well, if they like.

The ride forms part of national Bike Week.

Please join our email list for occasional updates on the ride and related events.

Pre-ride events

Naked Bike Film Night

Saturday 22 March 7.30pm
The Brunswick pub, 1-3 Holland Road, Hove BN3 1JF

Further information on Facebook and EventBrite

Come see a selection of short films about the World Naked Bike Ride, environmentalism, naked protest and cycling. There will also be discussion of issues raised and a chance to meet other riders and organisers. Funds will go towards organisational costs of the ride in June.

The event is in solidarity with the southern hemisphere rides, which will be taking place in early March.

Buy tickets: £3 advance / £5 on door

Please note: this event will be at The Brunswick pub in Hove, not the Caroline of Brunswick in Brighton (where we've hosted previous events). We will be showing a similar selection of films to last year. This is a clothed event – there will be nudity on screen but not in the audience!

Planning meet-ups

Please come along if you'd like to get involved or find out more. We meet at least once a month in the run-up to the ride, from January to June.

Planning meeting #1: Thu 27 March 2014, 7.30pm
