Join us for a naked seaside bike ride, a paddle in the sea and a naturist beach picnic!

Brighton's fourth World Naked Bike Ride will take place on Sunday 14 June 2009. An amazing 400 riders took part in 2008, 200 in 2007, 160 in 2006, and more are expected in 2009. As of the 2007 ride, following negotiations with Sussex Police, full nudity is permitted at the event. The event will be scheduled so people can also join other UK rides, including London.

The ride also celebrates Brighton's status as a Cycle Demonstration Town (2009 is Brighton's Year of Walking & Cycling).

If you're interested in riding or getting involved, please join our Yahoo! discussion group. You can also sign up to our event listings at Facebook and Upcoming.

Planning meetings

Next meeting: Tuesday 3 March 2009, 6.30pm at the Earth & Stars pub

Planning meetings to discuss this ride will take place at least once a month in the months leading up to the ride. The meetings will be held at the Earth & Stars pub, on the corner of Church Street and Windsor Street in Brighton. Please come along if you'd like to get involved!

Proposed future meeting dates (same venue): Wed 8 April, Tue 5 May, Wed 3 June

Solidarity event

Friday 13 March 2009

A solidarity event, including a film screening, is happening on Friday 13 March 2009 (the evening before southern hemisphere ride date) upstairs at the Caroline of Brunswick pub, Ditchling Road, Brighton (opposite The Level). Turn up from 7pm onwards.

If a sufficient number and gender mix of hardy cyclists can be found, a publicity stunt ride is also being considered during the day. This is in solidarity with the southern hemisphere rides happening at that time, as well as a means of publicising the summer ride. Please get in touch if you're interested in participating!

Get involved!

Ride on the day

Please show your support for this event and its message by riding "as bare as you dare" on the day. If you haven't got a bike, these can be hired from Planet Cycles, next to West Pier (01273 748881). For more information on what to bring etc, visit the Joining a ride page.

Spread the word

The more people know about the ride, the more will come. The more people come and ride, the more successful the event will be, and the safer riders will feel.

Help organise and promote this ride

To really make this ride happen, please get involved in organising and promoting the ride. See the Brighton & Hove planning notes for more information on jobs required.
