Op zaterdag 7 juni 2008 hebben we in Utrecht een succesvolle WNBR gereden zonder problemen. Zowel de ongeveer 25 deelnemers en deelneemsters als het publiek hadden er plezier in. We hebben goed geprobeerd duidelijk te maken via pers en meegevoerde slogans waarvoor we actie voeren.

We verzamelen ons op 7 juni 2008 om 13:00 uur op het eind van het streekbusstationsplein onder het moderne deel van het hoofdkantoor van NS.

Vanuit Centraal Station Utrecht komt u daar door vanaf de treinen naar de stationshal te gaan (omhoog, eventueel met de lift), dan even richting centrum/Hoog Catarijne en meteen al bij de Bruna kiosk rechts door een lange gang naar het streekbusstation.

Roltrap (of lift) omlaag. Dan het streekbusstation helemaal langs parallel met de spoorbaan. Aan het uiteinde van het plein staat een hoog gebouw van staal, glas en beton, (een deel van) het hoofdkantoor van NS aan de Laan van Puntenburg. Daar verzamelen we ons.

Van daar gaan we naar de uitkleedplek waar we ons ook nog even (maximaal een half uur) kunnen voorbereiden (lijf en/of fiets versieren, eventueel bodypainten - er is wat bodypaintmateriaal aanwezig, kleren uit). Het is handig om thuis zo veel mogelijk voor te bereiden, bijvoorbeeld als je wilt bodypainten: iets moois kost wat meer tijd.

Vandaar starten we.

We blijven buiten de voetgangerszone. De route is zo gemaakt dat we zo weinig mogelijk last hebben van stoplichten en vervelende afslagen.

Naar schatting zullen we zo'n drie kwartier door het echte centrum rijden. Daarna gaan we nog ruim een kwartier over een rustige en leuke weg langs de Vaartse Rijn naar Park Transwijk, waar van 15:30 tot 23:00 uur het [http://www.klimaatwet.nu/concert/ concert voor de actie "Geen halve maatregelen, Klimaatwet Nu! (met o.a. De Dijk en Stevie Ann)] wordt gehouden. By experimenting with several ideas we have found a nice route, smoothly avoiding problems with motorised and walking traffic and showing some picturesque parts of Utrecht.

On the 7th of june 1pm we will gather under the modern part of the main office of NS (Dutch Railways) at the Laan van Puntenburg 100, a high building made of steel, glass and beton (see first picture above). From the trains you can reach it as follows: go up to the station hal. Then go a little in the direction Hoog Catharijne (the shopping center), then turn to the right to the "streekbussen" (the station of the regional busses) (see second picture above). When you have come down to the regional busses square, traverse this parallel to the railway. At the end is our gathering point. From there we will go to a small and quiet park for the last preparations: decorating bike and/or body, unclothing, possibly bodypainting, etc. From there the real ride will start.

Daarna zijn we in ruim een kwartier langs de Vaartse Rijn naar Park Transwijk gereden, waar het festival voor de actie "Geen halve maatregelen, Klimaatwet Nu! (met o.a. De Dijk en Stevie Ann) werd gehouden. Dat concert was in feite de reden om dit jaar de WNBR in Utrecht te houden, om daarmee tevens die actie te ondersteunen: de actie wil krachtige maatregelen voor het klimaat, ten gunste van energiebesparing en van schone en duurzame energie en tegen uitstoot van broeikasgassen, juist iets dat de WNBR ook wil promoten. Ride information (English)

History

On Saturday 7 June 2008 we had a succesfull WNBR in Utrecht without problems, the riders and the public enjoyed it and we made clear by slogans in the ride and by information to the press what are our purposes. At the same time we supported the actual action for a powerful Climate Law aiming at saving energy and restricting to clean renewable energy.

We rode about ¾ of an hour through the center of the beautiful town of Utrecht, along touristic places, the old scenic canals with the special yards, the old Dom of Utrecht, places with outside cafes, but also the shopping center and the market of vegetables and flowers. The Utrecht public responded as joyful as we were.

After this center route we rode along a nice, more rural canal, the Vaartse Rijn, to Park Transwijk, where the concert for the action for a powerful climate law was held -in fact, the reason why the 2008 Dutch WNBR was in Utrecht.
