History

2011

Date: Saturday 11 June 2011
Time: Gathered at 1pm, Rode at 2pm
Location: Started at Freeride bike co-op and traversed 1.5-mile loop around downtown
Number of Riders: 31
Duration: About 20 minutes
Weather: 56 degrees & pouring rain
Reception: The cold rain kept most of the creepy lechers & haters away, so only the most diehard loving fans turned out on covered porches, under awnings, and with umbrellas to cheer us all the way. MPD blocked some intersections during the latter half of the Ride (thanks!!). The closest thing to a 100% positive reception we've had in all five years. We'll be back--RAIN OR SHINE--next year too!

2010

Date: Saturday 12 June 2010
Time: Gathered at 1pm, Rode at 2pm
Location: Started at Freeride bike co-op and traversed 2.25-mile loop around downtown
Number of Riders: 39 (37 + 2 inline skaters)
Duration: About 25 minutes
Weather: Low 60s & cloudy
Reception: Great reception all the way around from spectators. Police escort the whole way in a cruiser with the lights going! Very successful ride. Definitely established as an annual event!

2009

Date: Saturday 13 June 2009

Number of Riders: 42 (40 + 1 inline skater + 1 skateboarder)
Duration: About 30 minutes
Weather: 74 degrees & partly cloudy
Reception: 100% positive! Many crowded street corners, a few hundred spectators, & lots of cheering. A peaceful, mellow, & successful ride. We'll be back in 2010...

2008

Date: Saturday 7 June 2008
Time: Gathered at 1pm, Rode at 2pm
Location: Started at Freeride bike co-op and traversed 3-mile loop around downtown
Number of Riders: 38 (37 + 1 inline skater)
Duration: About 30 minutes
Weather: Sunny and hot
Reception: Largely positive: hundreds & hundreds of cheering spectators and "amateur photographers" filled the sidewalks of Montpelier. Thanks for your support! Thanks too to the City of Montpelier and to our Montpelier Police Bike Patrol escort for such a successful ride, and we'll see you in 2009!
