News

• 30 May 2009: T-minus 2 WEEKS! This year we will again be synching our Ride's start time with that of the Burlington VT Ride. Both Rides will roll at 2:00pm sharp, so make sure that you get to Freeride (our starting point) in the 1 o'clock hour!! In the meantime, bone up on your knowledge of the bike laws in the City of Montpelier: Bicycling Laws - Montpelier, VT
• 13 May 2009: Only a month away, anticipating about 50 riders (with about 1/2 that officially confirmed to date). If you know you're going to ride, please let us know (13june2009@montpeliernakedbikeride.org). Otherwise, we'll see you there: rain or shine!
• 13 April 2009: Exactly two months away & we have twenty-one (21) confirmed riders. Sign-up is not mandatory, but if you know you're going to ride, please let us know (13june2009@montpeliernakedbikeride.org)!

- Our official photographer will be back to reprise her role for the '09 Ride!
- If you want to participate this year but do not have a bike, Freeride will have bikes to loan. Additionally, rider John LePage is offering a seat on his tandem (stoker or captain), as well as an adult size trike for use. Contact him personally to make your own arrangements: bunji@pshift.com or magicdantz@yahoo.com. Out-of-towners: John is also offering space on his land on which to camp, around the time of the event.

• 30 January 2009: The Ride's permit is approved! The Montpelier Police Department's Bike Patrol will assist as needed, & parade participants must not violate City ordinances or State law. But the Montpelier Ride is officially set to go on: SATURDAY, JUNE 13. MEET AT 1PM AT 89 BARRE ST, RIDE AT 2PM SHARP!
• 28 January 2009: The World Naked Bike Ride, Montpelier submits a "Parade Permit Application" to the City for June 13th.
• 13 January 2009: Exactly five months away & we have thirteen (13) confirmed riders.
• 13 December 2008: Exactly six months away & we have ten (10) confirmed riders.
• 08 December 2008: The date of the World Naked Bike Ride & the Montpelier Naked Bike Ride is: SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2009. SAVE THE DATE!

Time: Gathered at 1pm, Rode at 2pm
Location: Started at Freeride bike co-op and traversed 3-mile loop around downtown
Number of Riders: 38 (37 + 1 inline skater)
Duration: About 30 minutes
Weather: Sunny and hot
Reception: Largely positive: hundreds & hundreds of cheering spectators and "amateur photographers" filled the sidewalks of Montpelier. Thanks for your support! Thanks too to the City of Montpelier and to our Montpelier Police Bike Patrol escort for such a successful ride, and we'll see you in 2009!

Time: Rode at 4pm
Location: Started at Hunger Mountain Co-op and traversed downtown
Number of Riders: 3
Duration: About 20 minutes
Weather: Sunny and warm
Reception: Largely positive: lots of thumbs-up, smiles and verbal encouragement. But lots of 9-1-1 calls too :-(
