Date: Friday 8 June 2007
Time: 6pm (for 7pm departure)
Location: Due to fire damage, the ride can't assemble inside The Basement, so instead please assemble outside The Basement, 24 Lever Street, Manchester, M1 1DZ/1DW? (off Piccadilly Gardens) – see map. Directions to an alternate indoor assembly location may be available on the day, otherwise we'll remain on Lever Street.

About the 2007 Ride

Venue Problem

NOTE: There was a terrible fire that made national news at the start of May and ravaged a building adjacent to The Basement. The Basement has been evacuated while structural repairs take place. We are currently looking for a new venue nearby to The Basement for the indoors assembly before the ride. If we can't find one, we'll just assemble outside The Basement. Check here for updates.

Assembly location plan

We hope to be indoors at an alternate but very nearby venue from 6pm to 7pm. We might show be showing films (including last year's ride), and hopefully we'll provide a safe, camera-free space to do bodypainting/costuming (just like last year). Whether or not we have an alternate indoor venue, you can come to the traditional assembly point at The Basement, 24 Lever Street (off Piccadilly Gardens). We'll either provide directions to the new indoor location, or we'll assemble there in the street. Come with your body and/or bike painted and/or decorated. Bring some professional non-oil body paints (that wash off with water) if you have them. At 7pm we'll hit the streets of Manchester on our beautiful bikes. If you have roller blades, skateboards or other (non-carbon emitting) wheels feel free to use them. Be prepared to carry all your clothes, bags, and materials with you on the ride.

Duration

The ride will take about an hour most likely.

Dress Code

The police have ok'ed the ride, so be ready to ride as bare as you dare. If you want to go for some kind of costume, think carnivalesque and really go to town, colourful and eye-catching. It's alot of fun, the people of Manchester loved us last year.

Photography

Manchester prefers riders rather than photographers. Rider-photographers are OK but we will be using the London photography policy unless posted otherwise.

Directions

How to find the basement? Plug in the postcode M1 1DW into mapping websites (eg- Here's how to find it with Multimap).

Publicise the ride

Please help get the word out about this ride. Circulate leaflets. These may be available for collection from a central Manchester location (TBC) or you can just get in touch with Meg, see above. We'll put a downloadable version here shortly.
