WNBR Lexington Emblem

Calling it a World Naked Bike Ride is a bit misleading if you've never heard of one before. You can fully participate in this yearly 'Bare As You Dare' protest against oil dependency with whatever you're wearing right now (if anything) to fanciful costumes.

This event happens in different cities separate, but together from one another all over the world while carrying the same message against oil dependency. The rides are usually about 10 to 20 miles or so depending on the host city and planned route.

You don't really even need a bicycle to participate. All you need is some form of non-motorized transportation. The ride is going to go slow enough(5 to 10 MPH) for unicycles and skaters to keep up, but would go too fast for people to try it on foot.

There will be a limited supply of body paint depending on the amount of participants. Donations to help cover the cost of body paint will be greatly appreciated. An after part (with booze) is in the works, and as soon as I know something I'll be updating this page.

• This event happens yearly on the last Saturday in August of every year until the end of time.
• Please join the group to get updates, and to find out the starting location days before the event date.
• Do not arrive to the meetup naked.

I use couch surfing when traveling to other cities, so if your coming from out of town that site might help. Be sure to use it at your own discretion thou.

What's the Main message?

The main message is against Oil Dependency, and growing our Local Dependency. The main focus is on building a stronger cycling community.

There has been nudity in other bike rides, but nudity is only used as a tool to symbolize the vulnerability we feel on streets unsafe for bikes; It's also used to promote the beauty of people with going as "bare as you dare."

Your job sitting back, and cheering us on is as important as the participants themselves. Please tell your friends, and don't forget the camera. Help us get the word out about the most awesome protest ever if you have a Facebook account, and Like out Fan Page please.

I've made sure to map the route past as many bars, restaurant, and parks as I could. I'll be posting all the hot spots to meetup, and watch us pass by days before the ride date. The route will be posted on this page without the starting location on it days before the ride.

All Donations are received using PayPal. $10 will get us 400 precut flyers of the Street Team flyers. Any amount will be greatly appreciated, and closer to the event date I'll be using the donations to buy body paint for all of you participants.

NYC Ride: 2nd Saturday of June, 2011 WNBR NYC

Street Team

I'm always looking for people to help spread the word, and one of the simplest ways to do so is to join the Facebook Page. Doing so will let your friends know about the protest on Oil Dependency, but if you want to get more involved email us, and I can find something you'd be interested in doing for the cause.

Here is a copy of the flyers I've been passing out. Kinko's will will print out about 50 sheets, and cut them into a total of 400 flyers for about $10. I bought a hole puncher and some rubber bands, and have been attaching them to the handle bar of every bicycle I've come across. I've also been passing them out at different events, and businesses like local coffee shops, gay bars and pizzerias that would let me leave a small stacks where they have a spot designated to leave flyers for costumers.

What does The Bible say about nudity?

If you know of any scriptures for or against nudity that I've missed please contact us, and I'll be sure to include them. I'm only looking to lay out the facts in an unbiased way for people of the Christian faith to decide on participating.

Genesis 2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Genesis 9:21-23 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father....

Police

From the three World Naked Bike Rides I've been in(stark naked), the police officers made sure we were safe on the ride, and escorted us to help stop traffic. Some officers enjoyed the day off of crime fighting, and took pictures and videos on their personal cameras like spectators.

This doesn't mean we won't face resistance from officers for starting one. Even thou protesting peacefully without anyones permission is a basic American right protected by the First Amendment the police might not see it that way. It's possible for anyone to be arrested in any protest you participate in, and participation is at your own risk. If at any time any officers asks you to put on more cloths, or gives you instructions thank them, and do as they say.

Brief History on the main organizer

Troy Marusek: Ever since my right lung collapsed in 2009 for no reason whatsoever; I've felt like I've been living on borrowed time. Even thou I fear my lung collapsing again; I fear more being eighty, and wishing I'd done more.

I Attempted to ride my bicycle 1100 miles on June 6, 2010 threw June 25, 2010 from Lexington, KY to the WNBR in Chicago, IL(airbrushed as a naked Avatar) then to the WNBR in Saint louis, MO(In my socks and shoes), and back home to Lex, KY. I cheated a bit of the way with the Amtrak, so I made a total of about 800 miles on a bicycle.
