Ride Details
Volunteer Organisers are needed to plan and organise the 2010 WNBR in Adelaide.
It is uncertain if Adelaide will hold a WNBR in 2010. In July 2009, one of the two 2009 Organisers retired and the other is hesitant to organise the 2010 event by themself. If you are keen to see a ride happen in Adelaide 2010 you need to volunteer as an Organiser. Please email Marte Kinder the WNBR Australia Coordinator to volunteer.
Of course, the details of the WNBR Adelaide 2010 are yet to be decided.
- The official WNBR Southern Hemisphere and Australia ride date is Saturday the 13th of March 2010. Adelaide might ride on that date, or sometime on the same weekend or sometime on the weekend before or after.
- The assembly time for the ride is yet to be decided.
- The assembly location for the ride is yet to be decided.
Exact details for the ride are dependent on whether you volunteer to help organise the event.
Would you like to help decide the ride details or get involved with organising, planning and/or publicity? Please join the discussion groups listed below and consider coming to the WNBR Australia National Convention 2009-2010 to be held over the New Year period at ConFest. Everyone is welcome to volunteer to help WNBR. Adelaide needs a dedicated media spokesperson to join the Organising team as well as riders who are willing to hand out flyers and stick up posters. Why not have a go?
When the ride is planned and coming up:
The ride is `bare as you dare' --- we suggest body paint, but you are free to wear as much or as little as you want. Fancy dress, self-decoration and other attention-grabbers are all very much encouraged. See The Art of WNBR for ideas on decorating yourself and your bike as well as lots of other background information. Knowledge is power !
Want to ride naked but aren't sure ? Get down to the local clothes-optional beach and get used to the idea of being nude outdoors and in public. But remember --- it's bare as you dare. You don't have to ride naked if you don't want to.
Make sure your bike is reliable. There will be no back-up team. If your bike lets you down, you're out of the event ! Sorry. Consider getting the fancy puncture-resistant tyres; they're expensive, but might save you on the day. Don't just dig that old boneshaker out of the shed two days before the event and hope it will be alright. It won't. If you don't ride regularly, start now; get to know your machine so that you're not worrying about it during the ride.
Volunteer Organisers
WNBR Adelaide has a local Organiser and a helper who are doing the leg work and promotion of the event in Adelaide. They will be there on the day to help the participants and tell them what is going on. The local Organiser has chosen not to nominate as media liaison for the event or publicise their details here. If you would like to help in the task of organising WNBR Adelaide 2009, if you can offer help or ideas, please join the WNBR Australia Yahoo! group and facebook discussion groups and make contact with the others and demonstrate some initiative. It will happen, and you can be a part of it !
Legality
The laws that are relevant to public nudity in South Australia are applicable througout the state. For the relevant law in South Australia, please check this external link: SUMMARY OFFENCES ACT 1953 - SECT 23, Indecent behaviour and gross indecency. Note: indecent exposure is distinct from indecent behaviour and gross indecency so non-sexual nakedness is less likely to attract police attention. 2009 will be the second WNBR in SA and there was no trouble with the police in 2008 and just a grumble in 2009 very near the end of the ride.
