The route for the first Nottingham World Naked Bike Ride is almost finalised and is currently under discussion with Nottinghamshire Police. Full details of the planned route can be found on [https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=215395314519275499413.0004c1824acbc486a5034&msa=0&ll=52.954249,-1.148458&spn=0.020554,0.038581 Google maps.] It takes in extensive parts of the city visiting the Robin Hood statue and the Old Market Square with plenty of opportunity for sight seeing along the way! Most of the route is easy cycling on level roads but there will be the inevitable hill coming back out of the city centre. This is no race though so it will not be too strenuous.

Everyone is encouraged to go "as bare as they dare" and please don't forget to affix/paint signs on your bike and/or body to indicate the reason why you are riding.
==Reaching the start/finish site==
The planned start and finish location is [http://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=3383 The Arboretum Park], an historic botanical garden just to the north of Nottingham city centre. This is currently (as at 27th May) subject to confirmation from the city council that there are no other events at that time.<br />
We will be using the North Sherwood Street entrance to The Arboretum to avoid the tram tracks on Waverley Street and the lane closure due to construction work on Shakespeare Street.<br />

If you must arrive by car please consider the carbon footprint of your journey and car share where possible.<br />

In this case you could park on Gregory Boulevard, remove your bike, cycle over to the tram stop and lock up your bike at the cycle racks, then park up in the car park if you intend to stay in Nottingham for a few hours.<br />

To ensure that this event shows cycling in a positive light, and for your safety and that of bystanders please take note of the following information.

Whilst on the ride you must ride with care and take all reasonable steps to avoid accidents.

When entering the Arboretum take note of the signs at the entrances which request that all cyclists show consideration for other park users. There are no paths or areas in the park which are solely for cyclists. Cycle slowly, give way to pedestrians and dismount if the park is busy.

Short sections of the route require us to use shared-use paths. Take extra care when cycling near pedestrians and dismount if necessary.

Whilst cycling all riders must do so lawfully and observe all traffic signs, lights, road markings and the instructions of any police officers we may encounter en route. This means we STOP at red lights; if the group becomes separated shout ahead and the leaders will wait to regroup after the lights. This approach has been agreed in consultation with Notts Police.

Be aware that short sections of the planned route follow the tracks of Nottingham’s tram system. When cycling near tram tracks or attempting to cross them '''take extra care.'''

The route for the first Nottingham World Naked Bike Ride is almost finalised and is currently under discussion with Nottinghamshire Police. Full details will be published very soon. It takes in extensive parts of the city visiting the Robin Hood statue and the Old Market Square with plenty of opportunity for sight seeing along the way! Most of the route will be easy cycling on level roads but there will be the inevitable hill coming back out of the city centre. This is no race though so it will not be too strenuous.

Everyone is encouraged to go "as bare as they dare" and please don't forget to affix/paint signs on your bike and/or body to indicate the reason why you are riding.

The planned start and finish location is [http://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=3383 The Arboretum Park], an historic botanical garden just to the north of Nottingham city centre. This is currently (as at 27th May) subject to confirmation from the city council that there are no other events at that time.<br />
We will be using the North Sherwood Street entrance to The Arboretum to avoid the tram tracks on Waverley Street and the lane closure due to construction work on Shakespeare Street.<br />

The decision on the route around Nottingham is yet to be finalised, but it will take in extensive parts of the city visiting the Robin Hood statue and hopefully the Old Market Square with plenty of opportunity for sight seeing along the way! Most of the route will be easy cycling on level roads but there will be the inevitable hill to get into the city centre. This is no race though so it will not be too strenuous.

Everyone is encouraged to go "as bare as they dare" and please don't forget to affix/paint signs on your bike and/or body to indicate the reason why you are riding.

Be aware that short sections of the planned route follow the tracks of Nottingham’s tram system. When cycling near tram tracks or attempting to cross them '''take extra care.'''

==Registering your interest==
Whether you want to get actively involved in helping a ride be a success, or just wish to get the occasional email reminder about upcoming rides, please register your interest via the Sign Up box on the [http://www.worldnakedbikeride.org Worldwide site]. We will usually acknowledge each registration, especially if you have a specific question or can offer to help. It is, however, not a requirement that riders register in this way.

Most rides also have a public Yahoo group to which you can subscribe and then discuss issues with others involved in that town or city. Sign up to Yahoo then, in Groups, search for WNBR and your town or city, and apply to become a member of the group if it exists. If it doesn't, then why not start one!

There are also Facebook Groups with a similar purpose as well as Facebook Events that focus on specific upcoming rides. Organisers may also use Twitter to communicate with followers.

The 2011 rides will be held in June 2011. London will likely hold their ride on Saturday 11 June 2011, and Brighton on Sunday 12 June 2011. There is a possiblity of holding a southern hemisphere solidarity ride (this happened in Brighton in 2009).

From 2004 to 2011, there have been 50 UK Naked Bike Rides with a cumulative total of 11,000+ riders in 13 locations, and no arrests.

It is unlikely that police will object to nudity at future rides in England and Wales. Local police officially acknowledged the legality of full nudity at all rides from 2007 onward. They required people to wear clothes at three English rides ([[Brighton]], [[Manchester]] and [[Bristol]]) in 2006, but have made no such restrictions at later events.

In contrast, Scottish police have never officially allowed full nudity at the four [[Edinburgh]] rides in 2004, 2008, 2010, and 2011. No arrest have been made, so the legality of the Scottish police's position has never actually been tested in court.

For UK rides where full nudity ''wasn't'' permitted, police requirements of body coverage seemed to be similar. The groin area needed to be covered, as did female nipples. However, buttocks could be shown by either men or women.
