==Route==
The ride will start at Memorial Gardens and end on the opposite bank of the Ouse at the Museum Gardens (which requires a short period of travelling by foot, pushing the bike). The total distance is about 5 miles of easy cycling.

Here is a downloadable map of the new [http://wiki.worldnakedbikeride.org/images/b/b1/York-2007-route-map.pdf 2007 route]. This is the newly updated route map (as of 3 June 2007). The 2007 route is different from the 2006 one in many ways, but two additional features have had to be dropped, the first took in Boothham Bar, and the second was a loop featuring Fossgate, part of Walmgate, and Piccadilly. The police and council advised that these changes were necessary on grounds of safety and to minimise disruption to traffic. We are still riding down Micklegate though.

Budgie supports the YHA network with hire bikes, and their prices are as little as £1.50 an hour (4 hour minimum charge) or £9.50 per day. No pre-booking is required. They have plenty of bikes. The bike's are actually collected and returned via the Station Left Luggage facility which is open until 8.30pm on Friday night. SATURDAY 2 JUNE 2007 - The Big Recycle 1-4 pm York Environment Centre, St Nicholas Fields, off Lawrence Street, York. Why not go along and raise awareness about the Ride, perhaps even book a stall? Several riders will be there in other capacities.

This has been printed in bulk, but you are free to make as many more copies as you wish. We now need to get as many of these leaflets distributed as possible. Any volunteers? If you know of a business that might spring for this, please ask them and then get in touch with Jesse at 07814 587361 or write to yorkshire [at] worldnakedbikeride.org (replace the "at" by @ and remove square brackets).

The York Planning Collective was relaunched in April 2007. We are a group of cyclists working together in a co-operative way to a single end. Some of us are based in York itself, some live in the surrounding towns and villages.

This year the Ride is being coordinated by someone who lives outside York, but in the future it would be useful to have someone local acting as the main ride coordinator. Ideally we'd have two people collaborating as coordinators – one person serving as a backup in case the main person in the role falls ill.

This page has information about the fourth year of London's participation in the World Naked Bike Ride. In 2004, there were 58 riders in Hyde Park, and in 2005 there were 250 riders in the central London streets. Last year an astonishing 800 riders shed clothes to protest against oil dependency. This June the ride will return to the streets of London allowing riders to see the many sights of this remarkable city from the comfort of their own bikes/skates.

===Route===
The ride features approximately 10k (6 miles) of central London with mostly left turns and a mix of high traffic and low traffic riding. There are no major hills and a park start and finish. The route will start at Hyde Park Corner, then take in Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Embankment, Parliament/Big Ben, Westminster Bridge, Aquarium/London Eye, IMAX cinema roundabout, Waterloo Bridge, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Charing Cross Road, Centre Point/Tottenham Court Road Tube, Oxford Street, Oxford Circus, Selfridges, US Embassy, Park Lane, and finish at Hyde Park Corner or Wellington Arch. Please note that this year's meeting point will be within Hyde Park itself, just north of the statue of Achilles (London's oldest nude statue!). This is just across the road from last year's meeting point at Wellington Arch.

If you're wondering why the route doesn't include Constitution Hill, Buckingham Palace, The Mall, Birdcage Walk, Horseguards Parade, the Metropolitan Police asked us not to use these routes because Trooping of the Colour has caused there to be various traffic restrictions on these streets on the day of the ride.

===Legality===
We have notified the police of our intention to ride in protest of oil dependency and in celebration of our bodies. They are fully aware that many/most of our riders will be nude and partially nude as we cycle a route through the streets of central London. In both 2005 and 2006 the police indicated that they would not be arresting us or trying to prevent the protest ride, and have assured us of similar support this year. We will try to ensure that the 2007 ride is endorsed by the police, as all previous London rides have been.

===Body Painting===
The best way to make sure you are ready for the ride is to get painted at home beforehand. Wear loose-fitting clothing that won't rub it off, and you can always leave final details and touch-ups for the ride. The advise on getting and using body paint, see the [[United_Kingdom_FAQ#Do_you_have_body_paint_information.3F_How_much_does_it_cost_to_cover_someone_with_body_paint.3F | UK FAQs]]. The easiest thing is to have a friend body-paint you, but you can paint yourself if it's an all-over-in-one-colour or message on your legs.

For people who aren't able to paint themselves at home, body painting - provided by Sitech Creations Ltd [http://www.sitecreations.co.uk] & others - will be available from 2.30pm at the assembly area. There are limited numbers of paints and painters, so access may be limited. Body Painting will happen under the trees just north of the Achilles statue. We've had good weather at each of the UK rides so far, indeed stunning hot sunshine in 2006. Does that mean statistically we're predicting rain? RAIN IS NOT PREDICTED, BUT.. the ride will not be cancelled in the event of rain. If it rains, bring some warm dry clothes to change into after the ride, and keep them dry. A large, thin plastic bag (such as you get from your dry cleaner) could be an effective protection if you want to seem naked in the rain. Maybe we can beat the Vancouver record for most naked riders in the rain! The London ride intends to organise in an autonomous, decentralised, and self-organising manner. Anyone who is prepared to contribute to planning in this way is welcome to attend the meetings. The meeting agenda can include route/time, negotiations with police, improving the experience for new riders, presswork, and any other matters that people bring to the meeting. Meetings are open to non-London riders who wish to plan rides in their area. If any non-London riders attend, their rides can be discussed. Press are not welcome to the planning meeting.

The final WNBR London 2007 meeting will take place at 6:30pm on the evening of '''WEDNESDAY''' 30 May 2007. '''IMPORTANT NOTE: This meeting will not be at the British Museum, where meetings usually take place.''' We need people to pass out leaflets at the assembly point and during the ride. If you plan to pass out leaflets on the ride, you need to have a good scheme for carrying the leaflets, so they don't spill out or blow away, but so you still can reach them to pass out. We're going to try to pass out leaflets to the crowd at the assembly point and then during the ride.

===Being a Volunteer Steward===
In order to ensure the smooth running of this year’s London World Naked Bike Ride, we are asking for volunteer stewards to look after the welfare of riders.

The purpose of WNBR stewards is to monitor the safety and wellbeing of riders and to provide advice and assistance where necessary. Stewards will be a visible presence amongst riders and will help to ensure that participants are safe, that they don't get lost or separated from the main ride and to provide assistance to those who get left behind or have breakdowns or punctures.

Stewards are NOT meant to police the ride - that is the job of the police - we just need people willing and able to look out for others and to lend a helping hand when required.

As a steward you will be required to:
*be a confident and proficient cyclist;
*be reasonable, responsible and approachable;
*arrive at the ride start point at 1.30pm for a ‘stewards briefing’;
*bring a small rucksack in which to put: a puncture repair kit, spare T-shirt, bottle of water & a bike pump (if you have any of these, it would be most appreciated if you could bring them along, if not, we will endeavour to provide them);
*carry a mobile phone (for use only in emergencies).

In return, you will receive:
*a FREE World Naked Bike Ride flag (Normally only available for £2 donation);
*a sign identifying you as a WNBR steward;
*support, assistance and guidance from the Stewards Co-ordinator;
*a warm glow knowing that you’ve helped to make the London WNBR 2007 a success!

Photographers must behave in a respectful, friendly and reasonable manner at all times. If you make any rider uncomfortable, you will be required to leave the assembly area (or ride).

===Enforcing the Photo Policy (by you the riders)===
We have created a downloadable "Photo Policy Enforcement Board" which is downloadable as a PDF here [[media:London2007photopolicy.pdf]].

The download prints out onto two sheets of A4 which you can attach to both sides of an A4 piece of card or cardboard. It has the photo policy info on one sheet and in large letters it says "''This Photo was taken without permission''".

Our hope is that plenty of riders will have their own "Photo Policy Enforcement Board" on hand at the ride. If verbal intervention doesn't succeed in stopping a problem photographer, please hold the board between an inconsiderate photographer and the unwilling subject. We'll see if this works. To make it happen, you'll need to download, and print the signs (and affix them onto two sides of an A4 sized bit of card). ''Be sure to have somewhere to store the card out of sight when you aren't using it (eg- when no problem behaviour is happening, and during the ride).''

==Route==
The ride will start at Memorial Gardens and end on the opposite bank of the Ouse at the Museum Gardens (which requires a short period of travelling by foot, pushing the bike). The total distance is about 5 miles of easy cycling.

Here is a downloadable map of the new [http://wiki.worldnakedbikeride.org/images/b/b1/York-2007-route-map.pdf 2007 route]. This is the newly updated route map (as of 3 June 2007). The 2007 route is different from the 2006 one in many ways, but two additional features have had to be dropped, the first took in Boothham Bar, and the second was a loop featuring Fossgate, part of Walmgate, and Piccadilly. The police and council advised that these changes were necessary on grounds of safety and to minimise disruption to traffic. We are still riding down Micklegate though.

'''Advantages of the route:''' The proposed York ride is mostly straightforward with minimal car traffic. It starts close to the rail and bus stations, and there are Park & Ride facilities a short cycle distance from the start of the route. The route passes various landmarks of York including the Minster, historic bridges, pedestrianised medieval streets, Cliffords Tower, the Ouse River bankside, the Millennium cycle bridge, National Cycle route 65 and ends up in the beautiful riverside Museum Gardens.

==Bike Hire==
Bikes can be hired from several places in York, but two very convenient hire options which previous riders recommend are:

[http://www.yha.org.uk/activities/budgie-bike-hire Budgie Bikes] is situated conveniently on Platform One at York Rail Station (you book through Europcar York). Budgie supports the YHA network with hire bikes, and their prices are as little as £1.50 an hour (4 hour minimum charge) or £9.50 per day. No pre-booking is required. They have plenty of bikes. The bike's are actually collected and returned via the Station Left Luggage facility which is open until 8.30pm on Friday night. FRIDAY 1 JUNE 2007 - Help is needed leafleting the YORK CRITICAL MASS - 5.30 for 6.00 pm departure, West end of the Minster.

SATURDAY 2 JUNE 2007 - The Big Recycle 1-4 pm York Environment Centre, St Nicholas Fields, off Lawrence Street, York. Why not go along and raise awareness about the Ride, perhaps even book a stall? Several riders will be there in other capacities.

This has been printed in bulk, but you are free to make as many more copies as you wish. We now need to get as many of these leaflets distributed as possible. We are looking for a place where we could leave the leaflets for people to collect them (with a person or business in York). Preferably the leaflets could be collected in the evening between 4-8pm. Any volunteers? ==York WNBR Planning Collective==
The York Planning Collective was relaunched in April 2007. We are a group of cyclists working together in a co-operative way to a single end. Some of us are based in York itself, some live in the surrounding towns and villages.

This year the Ride is being coordinated by someone who lives outside York, but in the future it would be useful to have someone local acting as the main ride coordinator. Ideally we'd have two people collaborating as coordinators – one person serving as a backup in case the main person in the role falls ill.
