Although this ride shares a name with World Naked Bike Ride, this event is held annually within the private confines of the [http://www.burningman.com/blackrockcity_yearround/ temporary location] for the [http://www.burningman.com/ Burning Man] event in Nevada's Black Rock Desert, in the [[US|U.S.A.]]. [[Black Rock City]] ride is a NOT held in a public place and the price of admission to the [http://www.burningman.com/ Burning Man] is over $350. Like events such as [http://pic.templetons.com/brad/photo/bm01/crtits/ Critical Tits] and [http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicoyogui/1317387713/ Critical Dicks], the Black Rock City Ride takes a different, sexy and off beat theme to its real world contemporaries. Oil dependency and all the negative consequences such as pollution and global warming, cycling celebration and car culture are not mentioned. The Black Rock City ride is simply a bunch of funlovers who like to tour the various free bars of the Burning Man festival together getting drunker at each stop. Although the bars offer only a slight element of privacy from the street, various gay happenings occur among the ride particpants who are mostly men. Organisers of this event have advertised the event with photos of previous years events showing bunches of men on the ride sporting erections. Black Rock City does not meet [http://wiki.worldnakedbikeride.org/index.php?title=Organizing_a_ride the requirements] for a WNBR and it ignores essential protest themes [http://wiki.worldnakedbikeride.org/index.php?title=Frequently_asked_questions#Is_it_OK_to_omit_the_environmentalist_or_body-positive_themes.2C_or_demand_people_wear_a_minimum_of_clothing.3F like the environmental message].

==History==
The World Naked Bike Ride is a really comfortable fit for Burning Man. Our inaugural ride was in 2004 with approximately 100 participants. The course ran throughout Black Rock City, and eventually out to the Greeter Gate to welcome people who were just arriving on the playa.

A bunch of naked cyclists riding through a major urban area is pretty provocative, but at Burning Man it’s not that unusual. So in an effort to put an unique spin on our ride in 2005, we added a pub-crawl element. Various camps volunteered to bartend for us when we stopped by, offering free cocktails, water, and sports drinks along the route. Participation our second year increased to approximately 200 riders.

The 2006 ride had around 250 riders. Five camps hosted us for cocktail stops and water breaks along the route: Our Lady of Schlong, La Dolce Vita, Hot WheelZ, Comfort & Joy, and Vamp Camp. Comfort & Joy really stepped up with 15 bartenders and waiters wearing nothing but bowties; the DJ wore a hat... and probably sunscreen. Our final host camp was Vamp Camp, which had a huge misting tent set up to cool the riders off. Awesome.

After leaving Vamp Camp, we rode over to The Deep End for the after-party. The Deep End is a big dance camp where we had finished the 2005 ride the year before. Prior to reaching The Deep End, we encountered a camp with a huge slip-and-slide, so we took over the place for a half hour of suicidal slipping and sliding. It was a great day!

The 2007 ride had four host camps: Our Lady of Schlong (these guys are great - they've been with us since the beginning), Barbie Death Camp and Wine Bistro, Sagrada, and Comfort & Joy. Once again we had great weather, no dust, cold cocktails, and an army of participants.

2008 was the 5th anniversary of the BRC World Naked Bike Ride and Pub Crawl, and the ride was bigger than ever. Our host camps were Home, Comfort & Joy, Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro, Damn Dirty Texans (non-alcoholic water break), Treasury Department, Celestial Bodies, Black Rock Lemonade (non-alcoholic re-hydration stop), and A Bordello of Dust.

The 2009 ride was, well, huge. We had cocktails stops at Garden of DeLights, Barbie Death Camp and Wine Bistro, Evilution, Celestial Bodies, and Comfort & Joy. We also stopped off at Northwest Mist for some trampoline jumping and cooling off in their massive misting tent. Later on we stopped off at The Duck Pond for some impromptu slip-n-slide action. Total blast.

The 2010 ride is on! If you find yourself on the playa this year and you're willing to meet the dress code, meet us at The Man at 11:00 am on Wednesday, 9/1/10.

While nudity doesn’t shock anybody on the playa, the advantage to doing the ride at Burning Man is that you don’t have to haul your clothes around with you. Burning Man is probably the only WNBR venue that allows you to leave your clothes at home. Most people wear some combination of hats, sunglasses, shoes and sunscreen, but that’s about it. We definitely comply with the dress code.

We've had two VERY successful rides in 2004 and 2005. For both years, we had 100% nude participation because - you know - it's Burning Man. It's not just allowed, it's encouraged!!

There were over 200 participants last year and we expect it to be even bigger this year since word of mouth has been very good. It'll be listed in the playa calendar at the Burning Man website, and fliers will be posted at Playa Info. Consult your "What-Where-When" once you get to the playa or stop by La Dolce Vita and ask for Dale. Or just show up at the Man at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, 8/30/06. Once you get to the big crowd of naked people, you're there.

In 2005 we coordinated with several theme camps so that we could have drink stops along the route. That was incredibly popular so we'll definitely be doing that again. Incidentally, thanks to Japanorama, Our Lady of Schlong, and Whiskey & Whores. Once the ride was over, about half of us did the "party like drunk naked savages" thing until late in the afternoon at The Deep End. A fantastic day!

Please let me know if you need any further information, or if your camp would be interested in hosting a watering stop (we'll provide the drinks, ice and supplies if you provide the bartenders). Hey, what would Burning Man be without two or three hundred naked people dropping by your camp to party with you??
