Introductory text: Oxford Naked Bike Ride is planned to go ahead on 15th June 2014

After many years of people mulling over the idea of an Oxford ride, the organising committee for OxNBR13 finally got together on 3 October in a fine watering hole and set out some ideas. Proposals are still at an early stage and we are discussing dates - mainly aimed at making it available to students before they break up for summer.

An agenda is being worked up for some of the most important tasks we need to do before we go public - eg deciding a date and liaison with the police. We are also working on publicity strategy and hoping to have some flyers available for the Oxford Green Fayre in December.

If you want to be a pioneer in this new venture rather than a sheepish follower, please add to this discussion list and let us know your interests. We hope to set up an email address very soon.

27 Jan 2008 I have tried to find some interest in running an Oxford ride in the local Cycle Advocacy group: Cyclox, but failed. I live near the Bucks/Oxfordshire border and would love to go to Oxford for a ride - last year I did Brighton and I may get the train to France and do one there if there is nothing local. I don't have a lot of time for organising - but I could have a go..with some help. Please get in touch if you are interested...in this cold weather it would be nice to plan for something in the summer! Dave

13 May 2010- Hello I'm a mexican guy living in Turkey and going for UK for a short time. I will be in Oxford for June 11 (potential date for the Oxford ride I think). Please keep this conversation updates if you make any plans.

Stop Press Now is the time to put words into action! If you want to ride in OXFORD 2014, please contact me URGENTLY!

I need twenty riders to commit to riding on the 15th JUNE 2014. If we can come together for a ride we can get by with the minimum of fuss. No need to have long drawn out meetings and discussions, we are just a bunch of cyclists out for a ride round town. But we will be making history in the process. So don't be shy step forward and lets go for it. Once I have the numbers I will contact the authorities for clearance. A quick update! We now have a number of riders who want to take part in the 2014 Oxford ride. So it will take place. I am trying to get confirmation from the Police that they have no reservations, they are a bit slow in responding. The start point will be in Oxpens meadow, next to the Oxford Ice Rink. Assemble from 2:00pm for bodypainting etc. the ride will move off at 3:00pm Hope to see you all there. I will be attending the London ride as Lead Marshall for the Hyde Park start, so if you are there it would be good to meet you. Please spread the word!!

History

 There is no history of an Oxford ride until now. This year will go down in history as the first ever Oxford Naked Bike Ride (were you there!)
