Welcome!

Welcome to the World Naked Bike Ride Wiki Website!

On 12 March and 10 June 2006, cities across the world will experience the naked joy of the world's largest naked protest against oil dependency and car culture in the history of humanity. It is time to stop indecent exposure to automobile emissions and to celebrate the power and individuality of our bodies! Naked Bicycle People Power!

This wiki is supplementary to the official World Naked Bike Ride site.

On this site you'll find a list of rides around the world. Either sign up to one of these, or start your own! (See sections below for more information)

Ride coordinators can also edit pages using this site's democratic wiki system (using the 'edit' tab at the top of each page).

How to join an existing ride

Participants are highly encouraged to:

  • Select from an existing WNBR event using a menu and form on upper right portion of the main page of the global WNBR web site and indicate in the form that you want to join the ride. If you can help volunteer to put up flyers or help in any way please indicate so in the comment area. If you filled out the form and selected an existing event from the menu and hit "submit", rider organizers should receive a form indicating your interest.
  • Visit the local or national web site using the links provided below and take note of the date, start time, and location of the event. Many participants have the opportunity to join a local WNBR discussion group as well to keep up-to-date on the progress of the ride, opportunities for getting involved, and any last minute announcements.

How to organize a ride

(1) All rides listed here must committ to the following:

  • The general message of WNBR is a protest against oil dependency and body shame. WNBR advocates and celebrates sustainable energy, environmentally-responsible living, human-powered transport and body-positive values. No ride should seriously deviate from this general message and no ride may require any minimum amount of clothing for the ride.
  • Take promotion of the ride seriously. Organizors should work together with like-minded inviduals and groups (such as Critical Mass) to make a successful event. Organizers must distribute flyers and work with grassroots media and press to generate interest.
  • Provide basic information for publicizing the event on the web including a start time and location.

(2) Potential Ride organizers must choose from one of the following:

  • Select from an existing WNBR event using a menu and form on the upper right portion of the main page of the global WNBR web site and indicate in the form that you want to help organize and/or promote the event
  • Suggest a new ride (using the form discussed above) by selecting "nominate city" and by filling in (1) name of proposed city (2) organizors' name (2) organizors' e-mail address (4) selecting "participate", "volunteer" and "receive e-mail" in the check box.
