London Bicycle Touring Company (LBTC) is offering bikes for the afternoon of the ride (Saturday 14 June 2008) for just £10. They are also staying open until 7pm, so you have more time to return the bike. Bikes must be pre-booked and collected from their premises (15-20 minutes by bike along low-traffic routes to the ride start). Please try to collect bikes early (from 10.45am), in order to avoid a rush. Here's a map and info PDF sheet from 2007 to print out (it's entirely accurate for 2008 except that we don't turn left onto Oxford Street - we turn right with the bus route under Centrepoint before turning left toward Oxford Street).

Terms of the hire for WNBR riders

  1. Bike collection and return is from/to the London Bicycle Touring Company (Nearest tube/rail = Waterloo).

  3. Bikes can be collected from 10.45am on Saturday 14 June 2008. They will be unable to hand out any bike between 11.45am and 12.00pm, because they have a sightseeing tour leaving at this time. Please try to collect bikes before 1pm if possible.

  5. LBTC will provide a bike that is available (and try to match with your preference)
  6. The discount hire terms do not apply to Tandems or Road Bikes, if you require one of these phone or visit the LBTC
  7. The person hiring the bike (aka: the primary hirer) must adhere and agree to LBTC's normal terms and conditions.

  9. The LBTC reserves the right to set additional terms not described here.

Note on costs: Bike helmets, locks, panniers, and lights are not included in the prices and will incur an additional charge.

Collection and return point

This year all bikes have to be collected/returned from the London Bicycle Touring Company between 10.45am-7pm on the day of the London World Naked Bike Ride 2008. Please collect your bike before 1pm if possible, as this will minimise delays. The journey is 15-20 minutes along easy streets that are car-free or have low traffic. Here is a printable map that shows you the easiest journey to and from the Hire location and Bike Ride.

Hiring by phone or in person

To hire a bike with a credit card you should phone 020 7928 6838 (between 10am-6pm). It is also possible to hire with cash deposit and cash payment if you prebook in person. Mention that you are hiring a £10 bike for the afternoon of the WNBR.

You will be asked to provide your name and height (or pref bike size). Be sure to let them know that you want the World Naked Bike Ride discounted rate of £10. Your bike will be available for collection from 10.45pm and must be returned by 7pm.

If paying with a card (instead of cash deposit and prepayment) you will also need to provide your billing address, and credit/debit card details.

Hiring the bike using the online forms

Read this info carefully, and try to keep the next few paragraphs available for reference as you use the online booking form.

Go to the website page for secure online bookings

For the online booking form click here. The form is fairly straight-forward. You will fill in details on three secure webpages, and then you will be taken to a secure page for filling in your credit card details.

Instructions for the first page (Bike Hire Booking)

VERY IMPORTANT - The following details must be filled in as shown below or you won't get the discounted hire rate of £10 for the day.

  1. For the Start of hire enter the date "14 June 2008".
  2. For the Days of Hire enter 16 even though you will only be hiring the bike for the afternoon (this helps you to get the correct price).
  3. For I am an agent select "WNBR"

The second page is called Quick Estimate

There are restrictions on the type of bike you can choose. The company will try to give you the bike type you choose, but the WNBR discount hire terms are simply that you will be allocated a bike that will fit you (if possible in the style you choose).

  1. On this page, you are asked which type of bike you prefer. You must choose from Mountain, Hybrid or Child's bike (road bikes are not available at the WNBR discount rate of £10).
  2. To fit the bike correctly, you will need to state your height in Meters, so you can use this handy site to help with any conversion you need.
  3. Note, the cost of hiring the bike is £10, but you will also be charged additional costs for any optional accessories you hire.

The third page is the quote page

  1. Review the quote (the cost of hiring the bike should come to £10.01 with VAT.
  2. Enter any relevant information, and then click continue.

The final page is Credit details

This is where you enter your credit card information. This site is secure - you can tell because of the padlock in the bottom of your browser window.

Map to/from hire location to the the bike ride

Here's a 2007 map of the ride showing Assembly and Finish points (and a safe and speedy route between these points and the London Bicycle Touring Company). It's a PDF file and and can be printed on a single sheet of A4 in landscape format.
