London Bicycle Touring Company (LBTC) is offering bikes for the afternoon of the ride for just £10 and they are staying open till 7pm on Saturday 9 June 2007 so you don't have to worry about timing the return of the bike.  Their bikes have to be prebooked and collected from their premises (which is about 15-20 minutes by bike along low-traffic streets/paths to the ride start location).  Please try to collect your bike early (from 12.30 in order to avoid a rush).  Here's a map and info to print out [[Media:London2007bikehireinfo.pdf]].

Last year, the bike hire point was right nearby the assembly point, but this year all bikes have to be collected/returned from the London Bicycle Touring Company between 12.30pm-7pm on the day of the London World Naked Bike Ride 2007.  Please collect your bike before 2pm if possible, this will minimise delays.  The journey is 15-20 minutes along easy streets that are car-free or have low traffic.  At the bottom of the page, we have supplied a map to assist your journey to and from the Hire location and Bike Ride.

Click [http://www.londonbicycle.com/booking here] to go to LBTC's Booking page from which, if you have an email client running, you can send them an email requesting to hire a bike for the WNBR. You need to specify your full name, full postal address, email address, phone number, size of the bike you want to hire, and the date and time period of hire, not forgetting to mention their special £12 WNBR offer. But you can copy/paste the list of needed information headings from their page into your email.

Another option is [http://www.tfl.gov.uk/modes/cycling/santander-cycles Santander Cycles]. However, this is intended for short journeys, so please make sure that you understand the costs involved. you pay £2 for the access fee, then the first 30 minutes are free, and each extra period of up to 30 minutes costs another £2. So, if you have the bike for 3 hours, it will cost you £12. This is quite plausible, since the London ride assembles at 14:30 and finishes at about 17:30. Also, you may not be able to collect or return a bike at the nearest docking station, if it's empty at the start and full at the end, so you need to allow for extra travelling time.  You might save some money if you dock your bike when we reach the main rest point and then check out a new bike for the remainder of the ride.

The following information relates to bike hire for the 2017 ride. We will update it for 2018.

LBTC logo.jpg

London Bicycle Tour Company (LBTC) is offering bikes for the afternoon of the ride (Saturday 10 June 2017) for just £14 (including a WNBR seat cover which is yours to keep). They are also staying open until 7pm, so you have more time to return the bike. Bikes must be pre-booked and collected from their premises, which are 10-20 minutes by bike to the Central London start points. Tower Hill is easiest to find - along the river, cross the river, along the river. Please try to collect bikes early (from 11:00), in order to avoid a rush.

Terms of the hire for WNBR riders

This is our current understanding but you need to observe the terms of hire as presented by LBTC at the time of hire.

  1. Bike collection and return is from/to the London Bicycle Tour Company (Nearest tube/rail = Waterloo).
  2. Bike delivery is not available for the Discount Hire for WNBR.
  3. Bikes can be collected from 11:00 on Saturday 10 June 2017. Please try to collect bikes before 13:00 if possible.
  4. Bikes should be returned to LBTC by 19:00 on Saturday 10 June 2017. They may alternatively allow you to lock up the bike and put the key in the shop.
  5. LBTC will provide a bike that is available (and try to match your preference).
  6. The discount hire terms do not apply to Tandems or Road Bikes; if you require one of these, phone or visit LBTC.
  7. The person hiring the bike (the primary hirer) must adhere and agree to LBTC's normal terms and conditions.
  8. LBTC reserves the right to set additional terms not described here.

Notes on costs

Bike helmets, panniers, and lights are not included in the prices and will incur an additional charge. Locks, though, are included.

You must pay in advance by credit or debit card. This way LBTC are able to do two jobs at once: capture the hirer's bank details for the deposit on the bicycle, and pay for the bike hire at the same time.

TfL Cycle Hire

Another option is Santander Cycles. Seat covers

If you are hiring or borrowing a bike, and you have a bare bum, you must cover the saddle. This will protect you from any dirt, as well as being polite to the next person who uses the bike. You can purchase a WNBR seat cover for £2 at any of the start points.
