The current proposed route starts at Super Happy Fun Land, 3801 Milby Street. From there we will ride to the following stops in order:
8 June: Major change! We have decided that this ride should take the message to where people gather, not just riding on the streets. We start about 9 pm at <a href="http://www.superhappyfunland.com">Super Happy Fun Land</a>, then move rather indirectly to the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-D-W-Lounge/117865881632718">D&W Lounge</a> on Milby (meet there if you don't get to SHFL by 9 pm). From there stopping at the Doctor's Office, a new spot at 1300 Nance near the Last Concert Café; passing by or pausing at <a href="http://www.waltersdowntown.com">Walter's</a> on Naylor near UHD; down to the Bank of America Building where TransCanada Pipeline Co. has its offices; then to Midtown, pausing at <a href="http://www.proofbarhouston.com">Reef/Proof</a> on McGowen, then <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/KHONS-winedartscoffeeart/112703029167?fref=ts">Khon's</a> on Milam at Tuam; back up to <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Notsuoh/156025834458310?">Notsuoh</a> (314 Main); returning to SHFL.

15 June: This will be the nature-lovers' and skinny-dippers' ride: a big loop that starts at Super Happy Fun Land, proceeding to <a href="http://bohemeos.com">Bohemeo's</a>, UH Central Campus, the Brays Bayou trail to Hermann Park, <a href="http://www.avantgardenhouston.com>"Avant Garden</a> and <a href="http://www.hausproject.org">Rosalie HAUS</a>, eventually returning to SHFL. There should be a couple of places along the way to get wet, so if you're painted up for the ride, you may need to touch up afterward.

  • The Chelsea Norman Ghost Bike on Waugh Drive near West Gray Street

History

2011 was Houston's first WNBR. In 2012, we had two rides to accommodate busy and traveling people who could not be there for the official Northern Hemisphere ride. This tradition of doubling our pleasure continued in 2013: the 8 June ride was in part a demonstration against the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline, while the 15 June ride was more recreational and involved a lot of fountains.

Ridership on 8 June 2013 varied through the evening, topping out at 75.

The "Naked" part is with an asterisk, knowing how HPD might respond to a troop of cyclists with their bits on display. The dress code this time is the standard Bare As You Dare. The more riders we have, the more naked we can be.

Please bring your own supplies to adorn your body or bike, as the facilitators cannot provide for all.
