Though it does not appear to be regularly enforced, Berkeley police do regularly publicize a city statute prohibiting public nudity. Since 1992 when a protestor appeared naked in the City Council chamber, anyone practicing nakedness in Berkeley is "subject to arrest", etc.. Extreme tolerance has been demonstrated by Berkeley Police in recent events involving nudity, such as the "How Berkeley can you be" parade and the recent "Old Oak" protests. Nearby San Francisco has no pre-determined clothing minimums, and both cities seem to receive positive responses to protests involving nudity or not. Berkeley residents are welcomed to enjoy the full extent of liberty- including a regular WNBR in San Francisco and their own WNBR the following Saturday. Why not do both?
